Amazon's Drones and American Infrastructure

I thought about this story when I read the news that yesterday, Amazon's CEO Jeff Bezos announced the company's intention to build a fleet of drones that would be able to deliver goods to the customer's door a mere thirty minutes after she orders. Of the big four tech companies, Amazon is the one that most clearly has a foot in both the digital and physical worlds, the old and new ways of doing business. Amazon's drones are meant to solve the so-called "Last mile" problem, and it's not neccessarily one that's created by aging highways and crumbling bridges. In opting for drones, Amazon is saying that it doesn't want to work within the current system, it wants to make a new one.
